Thank
you so much for everyone who has shared and liked our page already, it’s only
just 24 hours old! I wanted to start putting some personality to our page and
let you know how it all came about and what we want to achieve with Let’s
Uplift Thorne.
When
I started my own business I soon realised there were no local networking groups
for the Thorne area. Although I’m invited to and attend several Doncaster
Chamber networking events in Doncaster town, I felt passionate about how much
it could boost our community and we were missing out. And so... If Mohamed will
not go to the mountain, then the mountain must come to Mohamed!
Let’s
Uplift Thorne was born over a lovely lunch at Deja Vu with other local business
owners who you’ll read about on our blog soon. The idea behind the group is to
provide a local networking platform for businesses in the Thorne and Moorends
area. Up until now we’ve been missing out on essential networking which would give
the opportunity to promote their businesses and services, as well as offering
each other support and advice.
We
are not trying to be a new local news site, or purely bombard you with
advertisements – the point is to make new friends and share encouragement
amongst individuals that all have the same positive attitude and want to make
our community happier and more prosperous.
We would
love to have luncheons, wine nights (!) and eventually local business showcase
events to show our community what they have here on their doorsteps and get
them shopping and using our local services.
